Harrop Family: Part 1

How time flies… Recently had a lovely catch up with some old friends. This little man has grown up some since the last time I photographed him here! And now we are eagerly waiting for the new addition to arrive. It was a different challenge with a family orientated maternity session outdoors this time (quite […]

To colour or not to colour?

It’s always interesting coming to the editing process with photographs… in fact in many ways it’s my favourite part (except for the fact I enjoy meeting and working with new people so much). But did you know that for every hour spent taking photographs, the photographer will most likely spent two to three times as long editing them? Sometimes longer. And not editing that makes you look less like yourself, but adjustments and enhancements that really help bring out the best in each image. For me, it can feel like an age old question when it comes to choosing whether an image looks better in colour or black and white. Sometimes you can look at a photograph and just know what will work, and sometimes you consciously shoot with a black and white finished image in mind. In other cases, you get photographs that can work equally well in colour or black and white. I often love both versions… as was the case with the following lovely family! Here are just a few examples of what I am talking about. Do you have a preference for colour or B&W? I would love to know why… leave me a comment below if you like. :o)

A most fitting end to the year

Squeezing one more post in for 2014. Well, what a year for me and my love affair with photography. I just want to take a small moment to say thank you so much, to everyone who has shown their support for me in this endeavour. It has very much been a case of small steps…giant leaps. I am soooo looking forward to what 2015 has in store… and many many more memories to be captured and treasured.

Without further ado… over to the stars, as always, the lovely people I so enjoy creating those images for. What can be more fitting at this time of year, but a beautiful family coming together for some fun in the rose garden? Thank you once again to the Harrop Family. x

Well, wasn’t this just such a fun way to spend an hour or two on a fine Saturday morning?! Thanks heaps to the very lovely Heemi family for inviting me along… 🙂
